Monday 10th September: Free evening for delegates attending the workshops and tutorials

Tuesday 11th September, 7pm: WELCOME RECEPTION

The welcome reception is within the University Campus and will be hosted by the University and the conference organizing committee -in the ASCOTEL Restaurant and the MACC Hall from 7pm.Delegates and registered accompanying guests are invited to attend This will be your an opportunity to sample local beers and cheeses.

Wednesday 12th September,6.30pm -8pm: OFFICIAL RECEPTION

Delegates and registered accompanying guests are invited to attend a drinks reception hosted by the civic authorities.The reception will be held in an attractive venue in downtown Lille,chosen for its cultural and historical features.Bus transport from the Campus to the city centre will be supplied.The second part of the evening will be an opportunity for you to discover the fine restaurants in Lille (a list will be provided).

Thursday 13th September, 7.30 p m: CONFERENCE DINNER

250 FF for the delegates. 350 FF for the accompanying guests.

The conference dinner will be held in the convivial and relaxed atmosphere of a charming location outside the Lille metropolitan area This will be chance to discover local dishes,wines and beers.This will be followed by a ãsurprise party without frontiers ä giving you the opportunity to join in the communal singing of old standards,both in English and French. Again,transport will be provided.

Tours for Delegates and Accompanying Guests

Tuesday 11th September, 4pm -7pm:
MUSEUM OF MODERN ART OF VILLENEUVE DâASCQ AND WINDMILLS

100 FF per person including fare for the museums. (Note that times are convenient for delegates as well).
A local excursion to the town of Villeneuve d âAscq,the new town in which the Campus is located.The visitor will have the opportunity to visit the Museum of Modern Art which is located in a beautiful park with lakes and promenades öan island of nature in the heart of the town.This museum is famous for its permanent collection of paintings and sculptures from the beginning of the century such as Picasso,Modigliani, Braque,Miro,Calder,etc.Close to the Museum,you will visit a further attraction - two old windmills, in which you can discover more about the windmill tradition of the Flemish part of the Nord Pas-de-Calais Region.

Tuesday 11th September 10am -5pm:
THE HISTORICAL CENTRE FOR MINING IN LEWARDE

300 FF per person included lunch.
The largest mining museum in France provides visitors with the opportunity to actually descend into the galleries of a real coal-mine to discover the history of coal mining.A typical local lunch will be taken in the Briquet restaurant located in the place where the miners hanged their clothes.The trip will be ended by a visit to the city of Cambrai,one of the oldest in the Region.Recognized as a city of Art and History,Cambrai abounds with mysteries and tales just waiting to be discovered.

Wednesday 12th September,10am -5pm:
LILLE CITY SIGHTSEEING, MUSEUMS AND OLD BUILDINGS

300 FF per person including entrance to museums and lunch.
The visit will start with a tour with an audio-commented presentation.Then you will visit the museum Palais des Beaux Arts .It is the Franceâs second most important museum, after the Louvre.Entirely renovated,this former 19th century palace is home to a number of superbly displayed collections.Of particular interest is a unique collection of military miniatures of towns.These were commissioned by Vauban under the reign of Louis the 14th (from Lille to Namur,etc.).After the lunch you will enjoy a guided visit to the old part of Lille,walking in the old streets,and visiting the Hospice Comtesse Museum,which is devoted to regional heritage and culture.

Thursday 13th September 9am -6pm:
VISIT TO THE CITY OF BRUGGES, THE FLEMISH VENICE

300 FF per person including lunch.
Brugges is located in the Flemish part of Belgium,one and a half hours by car from Lille.This very complete day will allow you to discover the principal aspects of this ancient Hanseatic city. After a canal-ride with audio commentary you will enjoy a guided visit of the city-centre ending with the serenity of the Beguinage.After lunch the Groeninge Museum will reveal to you the secrets of the famous old Flemish primitive art,with works by Van Eyck,Memling,etc.Your trip ends with some free moments to soak up the special atmosphere of Brugges.
