Getting to the UK
Bristol Airport is a growing regional airport, 30 minutes drive from Bath, with regular domestic and (European) short haul connections. A full list of airlines and flights can be reached through their website below (select "Destinations" and then the "Scheduled" tab for a list of airports and links to the corresponding airline).
See http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/
On arrival in Bristol, the easiest way to Bath is by taxi (available at the airport), though a cheaper alternative may be to take the shuttle to Bristol Temple Meads railway station and then a train to Bath (see Rail information below).
For other flight alternatives and all long haul origins/destinations, Heathrow Airport is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive away. Flights can be booked through most travel agents or online, by following the link below.
http://www.baa.co.uk/main/airports/heathrow/
The drive from Heathrow to Bath is relatively simple - full instructions are at UK Multimap - Heathrow to Bath.
Alternatively a rail shuttle can be taken to London Paddington where a connection on to Bath is available (see getting to Bath: Rail) below.
Getting to Bath
Aside from the flight options, above, Bath can also be reached by Rail, Coach or Car:
Rail:
Bath Spa station is on the main line between London (Paddington) and Wales/Cornwall. See http://www.rail.co.uk/ukrail/planner/planner.htm for full timetable and booking information.
Also booking information can be found by phoning 08457 000 125 or online: http://www.great-western-trains.co.uk/
Once at the station, both the University and City Centre Hotels are a short taxi ride away (taxis are available at the station).
Coach:
The bus station is next door to the train station and serves as the hub for both national express coaches:
http://www.gobycoach.com/
and the local bus service:
http://www.firstbadgerline.co.uk/
Again, upon arrival at the station, the final leg of your journey can be achieved by taxi (there is a taxi rank in front of the train station)
Road:
Bath is approximately 10 miles from junction 18 of the M4. Instructions for the drive from the motorway to the University are available via UK Multimap - M4 to University or from the motorway to the town centre are at UK Multimap - M4 to Town Centre.
At the University
See campus map. This map will be updated shortly to include indications of key conference venues.
Accommodation
We have tried to organise various accommodation options to suit different budgets (see listing below). Unfortunately, in each case, space is limited and Bath hotels get very busy during the summer. This is especially true of the Luxury Hotels described which are relatively small (and exceptionally good) - be warned that late bookings in this category especially may be met with either higher priced rooms or zero availability.
Hotel bookings must be made directly with the hotel and not through the conference organisers. Prices quoted here were supplied by the hotels and may be subject to change. Correct current pricing must be checked with the individual hotel before booking.
Budget
Low cost, University campus accommodation will be available Sunday-Friday nights inclusive. Conference accommodation at the University of Bath has limited availability, particularly on Sunday and Friday nights, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Rooms are available at £45 or £50 per night, including breakfast. All rooms are for single occupancy. Rooms at £40 are fitted with an en-suite pod (shower, wash basin and toilet). Rooms at £50 have full en-suite facilities (bath, shower, toilet and washbasin) and television.
These rooms are bookable online during the conference registration process.
