How to get to the conference

HCI2006 takes place at Queen Mary's Mile End Campus. Nearest stations on the London Underground are Mile End on Hammersmith and City, District and Central lines; and Stepney Green on the Hammersmith and City and District lines (see map below). Streetmap.co.uk has a detailed area map of the area. Please note that parking is not available on the campus.

Travelling to London

Queen Mary, University of London is accessible via 3 Tube lines (Hammersmith & City, District and Central) and 6 bus routes (25, 277, 323, 339, D6 and D7).

Note: you can purchase Underground tickets online in advance and have them mailed to you: http://www.ticket-on-line.com. Allow 7 days for delivery.

By Air
London is served by 5 airports:

  1. From Heathrow:
    The Heathrow Express to Paddington (£13.50 single, £26.00 return) and the Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single). The Piccadilly line to Holborn and the Central line to Mile End (2005 price: £4.00 single).
  2. From Gatwick:
    The Gatwick Express (does a 4 for the price of 2) to Victoria (£14.00 single, £25.00 return) and the District line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single). The Thameslink to Blackfriars/Farringdon (~£10.00 single) and the District line/Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  3. From Luton:
    The Thameslink to Kin'gs Cross Thameslink (~£10.00 single) and the Hammersmith & City line from King's Cross to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  4. From Stanstead:
    The Stansted Express to Liverpool Street (£15.00 single, £25.00 return and the Central/Hammersmith & City lines to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single). Note that the Central line does not stop in Stepney Green.
  5. From London City:
    Take the shuttle from the airport to the Canary Wharf Underground station. Take the Jubilee line to Stratford and the Central line to Mile End (£3.00 single).

By Train
London is served by 8 major train stations:

  1. From Waterloo:
    Take the Northern or Bakerloo line to Embankment and then the District line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  2. From Paddington:
    Take the Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  3. From Charing Cross:
    Take the Northern or Bakerloo line to Embankment and then the District line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  4. From Victoria:
    Take the District line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  5. From London Bridge:
    Take the Northern line to Monument and then the District line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  6. From Liverpool Street:
    Take the Central/Hammersmith & City lines to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single). Note that the Central line does not stop in Stepney Green.
  7. From King's Cross/St Pancras:
    Take the Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
  8. From Euston:
    Walk to Euston Square and take the Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single). Take the Northern line to Moorgate and then the Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).

By Coach
Victoria Coach Station is the major depot for getting to London via coach. From there you can easily take the District line to Stepney Green or Mile End (£3.00 single).
