About Lancaster
Lancaster University

Lancaster University is a friendly campus university which has a strong academic base and is highly ranked in terms of research and teaching. It is based upon the collegiate tradition of Oxford and Cambridge, comprising nine residential colleges, each having their own character and sense of community.
Computer Science is housed in InfoLab21, a brand new facility incorporating Computing, Communications and the Knowledge Business Centre, which provides a route for commercial exploitation of research coming out of the department as well as high-tech employment for the region.
The campus itself is set within 250 acres of beautiful parkland and is three miles from Lancaster city centre. Computing has recently been adopted by a deer, which can be seen from many offices as it grazes.
The university has close ties with the city of Lancaster and is also one of the main employers in the area. It also shares with the local community it's cultural and recreational facilities - theatre, art gallery, concert hall, multi-denominational Chaplaincy Centre and a well equipped sports complex. There are also numerous bars and eating places on campus which are open to both students and members of the public.
