HCI 2007 is the premier conference in the BCS British HCI calendar. It is an event designed to bring together practitioners and academics in order to further improve the relationship between people and technology. It is attended by people from all corners of the globe who engage in lively, enthusiastic and above all, positive discussions surrounding some of the most pressing issues in HCI today.

Technology today plays an ever increasing role in many people's lives. In response to this, the aim of the conference is to look at the very nature of HCI; how it has changed in order to deal with this increasing utilisation, hence the title 'HCI... but not as we know it'. As technology moves away from the traditional computer and single user set-up to devices which are either embedded, on the move or purely for fun, a new set of challenges have arisen for the HCI community.
