ABOUT
Digital Live Art is the intersection of Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Live Art and Computing. (re)Actor3: The Third International Conference on Digital Live Art seeks to bring together practitioners and academics from the varying worlds of Live Art, Computing and HCI for a lively debate and event which will explore this emerging field. This year, (re)Actor3 is co-locating with one of Europe’s largest and longest running HCI conferences - HCI 2008 which is being held in Liverpool UK - host of Europe’s 2008 Capital City of Culture events. We are seeking proposals for Interactive Experiences - interactive installations, posters, demonstrations, live performances, and academic papers. We are seeking contributions addressing all aspects of Digital Live Art from guerrilla interventions to curation, with a focus this year on Live Physical Computing and UpCycling - turning yesterday’s unwanted items into Digital Live Art.

VENUE - DAYTIME EVENT
As in previous years, this year we include both a daytime and evening event. The formal daytime event will take place in parallel with HCI 2008 at the Holiday Inn, Liverpool on Wednesday 3rd September 2008. The day will consist of keynote presentations, formal papers and interactive installations.

EVENING AFTER PARTY
The daytime event will be followed by a public after party with commissioned installations, DJs, VJs and live performances. The party takes place at Liverpool’s Contemporary Urban Centre (CUC) boasting 170,000 sq feet within a Grade II listed converted warehouse. CUC aims to reflect the themes of contemporary life in the urban environment, particularly from the point of view of marginalised and excluded communities.

FUNDING
We have a limited number commissions available for live performances and installations. In addition, this year we are providing a special Artist in Residence commission at the Centre for Digital Music, Queen Mary, University of London. You can make a request for funding or for a commission using the proposal template, which you can download at the link below. We also have a limited number of travel bursaries available for those who may not be otherwise able to make it to the conference. Please see the website for more details.
